Scotts Valley man identified as deceased driver who drove off wharf and into Monterey Bay
The Santa Cruz Coroner's Office on Monday identified the man who drove off the Santa Cruz Municipal Wharf and into Monterey Bay as 65-year-old William Westerman of Scotts Valley. He was pronounced dead at a nearby hospital shortly after rescue crews removed his body from his submerged minivan. Westerman's two-year-old Boxer, "Cali," survived and was being cared for by the Santa Cruz County Animal Shelter.
