Coffee is safe for people with A-Fib, UCSF study finds
New research suggests that coffee may be safe for people with irregular heartbeats. Researchers at UCSF tracked 200 adults in the U.S., Canada, and Australia with a history of atrial fibrillation (A-Fib) over four years. Half of the participants cut out caffeine entirely, while the other half drank at least one cup of coffee a day. Those who drank coffee were less likely to experience another irregular heartbeat episode compared to the no-coffee group. A-Fib is estimated to affect about one in three adults nationwide.
