Confederate statue of Jefferson Davis taken down in New Orleans

Workers in New Orleans removed the Confederate statue of Jefferson Davis Thursday to the cheers of some, but protesters against the removal were also present. In 2015 the city council voted for the monument's removal saying it was a symbol of slavery and segregation.
