California officials sue billionaire over access to beach

California officials are suing a billionaire who has been fighting for more than a decade to keep a secluded beach to himself. The lawsuit filed Monday on behalf of two state agencies seeks a court order demanding that the homeowner remove all gates and signs on or near the only road to the beach that runs through his private property south of San Francisco. The lawsuit contends that he will keep imposing improper restrictions to the public's access to the beach near Half Moon Bay. Attorneys for the homeowner say the state is trying to seize his private property without compensation. Allie Rasmus reports
