Big Sur's Timber Fire: Thunderstorms hamper firefighting efforts

CAL FIRE says the Timber Fire burning on the Big Sur coast surged early Wednesday morning on its southern edge. The fire has grown to over 3,700 acres and is 5% contained. CAL FIRE says crews had to stand down as thunderstorms rolled through the area this afternoon, forcing firefighters to take shelter until the system passes.
