New satellites aim to give firefighters an early edge in wildfire fights

California’s wildfire response is getting a high-tech boost. Three satellites have launched as the first step in the FireSat constellation, a planned network of 50 satellites designed to detect wildfires earlier and provide firefighters with critical information in the first moments of an emergency.
