San Francisco's overdose deaths fall to lowest level on record

Overdose deaths in the city fell to their lowest level on record — 34 deaths in July, the lowest since the city began tracking the number in 2020. Those 34 deaths represent a decrease of more than 20% compared to last year, when there 52. For 2026 as a whole there have been close to 300 deaths, nearly 30% fewer than last year.
