Do not turn your back to the ocean
Beach Hazards Statement in effect Saturday morning through Tuesday afternoon. Long-period southwest swell generated by Hurricane Fausto will arrive this weekend. While Fausto poses no direct threat to California, it is sending powerful wave energy toward our coastline. Main hazards: Sneaker waves Strong rip currents Large breaking waves (up to 10 feet at some south and southwest-facing beaches) Dangerous conditions near rocks, jetties and shorelines. DO NOT TURN YOUR BACK TO THE OCEAN! THIS WEEKEND! A classic Bay Area summer pattern continues. The marine layer compresses to around 1,000 feet tonight, meaning: Less inland cloud cover overnight Earlier sunshine inland Saturday Patchy fog mainly along the coast, Russian River Valley, Santa Rosa and Petaluma. Gilroy Garlic Festival: Near or low 90s both days. San Francisco Marathon: Near 60 egrees at the Start, 67 by Noon. Good Luck!
