Missing San Francisco mom, newborn found safe
The week-old baby and her mother who were missing in San Francisco for nearly 24 hours were found safe, police said Tuesday afternoon.
SAN FRANCISCO - The week-old baby and her mother who were missing in San Francisco for nearly 24 hours were found safe, police said Tuesday afternoon.
San Francisco police were looking for the baby girl who they said was at-risk.
Police said the baby was last seen on Monday with her mother, 33-year-old Kenisha Davis, leaving a Target store on Geary Boulevard and Masonic Avenue.
The baby was at a high risk of being neglected, according to police.
Police provided a photo of the mother, but not the baby.
"At this time, investigators and child protective services are working diligently to try to locate the mother and the infant," SFPD's Public Information Officer Paulina Henderson said earlier in the day Tuesday.
Henderson said officers were concerned about the infant's well-being.
"We are concerned about the child's well-being and that's why we were working closely with CPS and that's why it's important if anyone knows the whereabouts to contact the police department," she said.
Police issued the alert Monday just before midnight. Henderson said the mother was last seen around 4 p.m. at the Target store.
The case is now being referred to child protective services to see if any criminal charges may be forthcoming.
