Man in custody in suspected Lafayette homicide

A man from Chico was arrested on suspicion of homicide Saturday after police discovered a dead body inside a Lafayette home earlier in the day, according to the Contra Costa County Sheriff's Office.

What we know:

At around 11:30 a.m., police responded to a residence on Westminster Place after receiving reports of a suspicious subject.

The road is a small residential street with a cul-de-sac, just inside the eastern Lafayette city limits and south of state Highway 24. 

Inside the home, officers located a deceased male whose identity has not been released. 

The arrest:

A person who was walking nearby was detained for further investigation and later arrested.

David Prince, 35, was taken into custody at the Martinez Detention Facility. His bail has been set at $1 million.
