BART removing some seats to ease overcrowding

BART is testing out a new way to ease overcrowding, by replacing double seats with single seats to give passengers more standing room.

Some of the single-seat test cars are already in service.

BART says it’s a temporary solution to give passengers more room during peak commute hours, while the transit agency waits for the first batch of its new train cars in 2017.

BART is asking for feedback on the new layout.
