BART removing some seats to ease overcrowding

OAKLAND, Calif. (KTVU) - BART is testing out a new way to ease overcrowding, by replacing double seats with single seats to give passengers more standing room.

Some of the single-seat test cars are already in service.

BART says it’s a temporary solution to give passengers more room during peak commute hours, while the transit agency waits for the first batch of its new train cars in 2017.
