Celeb chef Michael Chiarello arrested on DUI

Celebrity chef Michael Chiarello was arrested in Napa County early Wednesday morning on suspicion of DUI, a California Highway Patrol officer said.

Chiarello, chef of Bottega Ristorante in Yountville, was driving a 2015 Porsche Boxster from Yountville to Santa Rosa when he was arrested on suspicion of DUI and possession of a controlled substance at 3:27 a.m. on Silverado Trail just south of Yountville Crossroad, CHP Officer Marc Renspurger said.

Chiarello was the only one in the vehicle and was booked into Napa County Jail at 4:40 a.m., Renspurger said.

Chiarello has developed more than 10 restaurants, including Bottega and Coqueta on Pier 5 in San Francisco.

He was named Esquire magazine's Chef of the Year in 2013 and is the author of eight books.

Chiarello also hosted his own television shows on PBS, the Food Network and the Cooking Channel, according to his website.
