Colin Hanks shares sweet memory of meeting Luke Perry

Following the untimely death of 90's icon Luke Perry, celebrities have been sharing their fond memories of the star.

Although actor Colin Hanks only met Perry once, he said he had a story too good not to share.

Hanks took to Instagram and recalled the fateful day he met Perry on an ill-fated plane ride.

Hanks was traveling with his wife and couldn't help but notice two young brothers a few rows in front of him "beating the hell out of eachother."

He said the parents couldn't do anything to make the broths stop. Hanks felt for the parents saying, "If you're a parent you understand. Sometimes there's nothing you can do." The chaos continued on for about two hours before getting "real bad" before landing.

That's when a man wearing a hat and sunglasses came out of first class - blowing up a balloon.

"He ties it off, hands it off like he's holding out a sword to a king. Kneeling, Head down, arms up. Kids calm down in milliseconds. Plane damn near bursts into applause. 15 minutes longer and it probably would have started WWIII, but we landed before that could happen," wrote Hanks on his Instagram page.

It wasn't until they exited the plane that Hanks noticed the "balloon man/hero" was Perry.

"Out of the blue he turns to me and says some kind words about Fargo, which kinda blew my mind. I start singing his praises about how long I've admired him and also about the move with the balloon. "That's a pro move! You can't teach that," wrote Hanks.

That's when Perry said he always flies with a several balloons "for that reason."

Hanks said Perry seemed "like a true gent."
