Colin Kaepernick says he will donate first million dollars made this year
SAN DIEGO, Calif. (KTVU) - In a press conference after Thursday night's preseason game against the San Diego Chargers, 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick took to the podium to discuss his recent protest of the National Anthem.
When asked if he plans on taking his protest further, he said "I am planning to take it a step further. I'm currently working with organizations to be involved and making sure I'm actively in these communities."
He added, "As well as donating the first million dollars I make this year to different organizations to help these communities and help these people".
Kaepernick's comments indicate he is speaking against police brutality and mistreatment of minorities.
Instead of sitting during the anthem, as he did on August 26, he took a knee.
Today, protesters gathered in front of the San Francisco Police Officers Association offices today in support of Kaepernick, who came under fire from the police union this week after he protested police shootings.
