Missing hikers found alive in San Bernardino County
A mother and daughter who went missing after going for a hike on a difficult trail in San Bernardino County’s San Gorgonio Wilderness have been found "alive and well," the sheriff’s department announced Friday.
SAN BERNARDINO COUNTY, Calif. - A mother and daughter who went missing during a hike in the San Bernardino Mountains have been located safe and sound.
Krystal Meyers, 41, and her daughter, Alexis Meyers Martinez, 21, walked out of the wilderness on their own and uninjured following an urgent search and rescue operation.

Krystal Meyers and Alexis Meyers Martinez went for a hike on Thursday on the Vivian Creek Trail but failed to return, sparking an immediate search.
According to the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department, the pair's last known location was at approximately the 10,300-foot elevation level above the High Creek switchbacks at 11 a.m.
After hours of searching, officials say they found the duo uninjured, and they walked out on their own.
The Vivian Creek Trail is a historically hazardous route that the U.S. Forest Service classifies as the shortest and steepest path to the summit of Mount San Gorgonio, noting that it requires experienced mountaineering skills.
