Fire at Moss Landing Power Plant
Monterey County sent out an emergency alert system warning Thursday evening to say the North County Fire Department is responding to a fire at Moss Landing Power Plant. Some areas are under evacuation orders.
MOSS LANDING, Calif. - Residents in several communities in Monterey County were ordered to evacuate after an explosion at the Moss Landing Power Plant on Thursday.

The Monterey County Sheriff's Office ordered these areas to evacuate: Moss Landing South of the Elkhorn Slough, North of Molera Road and Monterey Dunes Way, and West of Castroville Blvd and ElkHorn Road to the ocean for the following zones: MRY-B037, MRY-B047, MRY-B050, MRY-B051,MRY-B053, MRY-B058, MRY-B060.
What we know:
The fire broke out around 3 p.m. and is still being battled as of 7 p.m. No injuries have been reported, officials said.
There are currently full road closures at Dolan Road and Castroville Boulevard and at Highway 1 at both Salinas Road and Merritt Street.
A temporary evacuation point is at the Castroville Rec Center at 11261 Crane Street in Castroville.
