Officers buy a 'police car' for boy who bought them lunch
WINSLOW TOWNSHIP, N.J. (AP/KTVU) - A 5-year-old boy in New Jersey who picked up the lunch tab for police officers in his community received a special surprise from the department.
William "Bubba" Evertz Jr. saved up his allowance for seven months and went to a Subway restaurant to get sandwiches for officers in Winslow Township last month.
As a thank you, the Winslow Township Police Department bought him a personalized police car.
The police department posted video and photos on Facebook.
The boy’s mother says her son told her he bought lunch for the officers because he wanted them to rest so they could protect the town.
Police made the boy an honorary officer and gave him a special shirt and badges.
He also got a ride home in a police car with lights and siren.
