Question of the Day: Do you support replacing Columbus Day with Indigenous Peoples' Day?

San Francisco’s board of supervisors is set to vote on Wednesday on a proposal that would replace Columbus Day with Indigenous Peoples’ Day.

Supervisor Malia Cohen introduced legislation to honor the Native Americans who were already here when Columbus arrived. Several other cities around the country, including Berkeley, have already replaced Columbus Day with Indigenous Peoples Day.

Advocates for the switch to Indigenous Peoples Day argue that Columbus did not “discover” America in 1492 but instead began the colonization of it.
