San Francisco residents warned of raccoon attacks

San Francisco animal control officers will patrol the Richmond District, after raccoons attacked a couple and their dogs.

An Irish couple visiting San Francisco say they were taking their daughter's two small dogs out for a walk when they were attacked.

They told an Irish newspaper that a group of at least 12 raccoons attacked them and the dogs.

The woman says she had to get a rabies shot.

It's the second raccoon attack in the Richmond District since the beginning of September.

The latest attack was near 41st Avenue and Anza Street.

Animal Control is also talking with wildlife experts about what else they can do to prevent further raccoon attacks.
