Strong winds knock down trees, cause power outages in South Bay
KTVU staff - Strong winds gusting of up to 40 mph knocked down trees and caused power outages for thousands early Monday in the South Bay.
At its peak, PG&E reported about 11,000 customers were without power. As of 6:30 a.m., just 2,500 were without power, PG&E reported.
Tim Messier’s tree fell in the backyard on Mount Vernon in San Jose about 3 a.m. Wendi Amber Zuccaro said her fence was damaged in Campbell and her power went out for a while.
By sunrise on Monday, the winds had mostly died down.
