San Francisco emergency crews look for missing swimmer from Aquatic Park Cove.
SAN FRANCISCO - San Francisco authorities on Tuesday recovered the body of a 35-year-old swimmer who went missing from San Francisco's Aquatic Park Cove.
Nikolas Tomasevic was last seen on Saturday at approximately 10:15 a.m. swimming inside Aquatic Park Cove wearing an orange swimming cap and swimming trunks, police said.
The San Francisco Marine unit and the San Francisco Fire Department water rescue unit, along with volunteers from the San Francisco Dolphin Club and South End Rowing Club, searched for him unsuccessfully, police said.
However, the SFPD announced on Tuesday morning that department divers and marine units found and recovered Tomasevic's body near the cove about 9:30 a.m.
The exact nature and the circumstances of Tomasevic's death were not released.
Tomasevic's loved ones established a GoFundMe in the wake of the swimmer's death, seeking donations to help transport his body from San Francisco to Serbia.
