Warning for pet owners with snake on the loose

People in the Placer County city of Rocklin should keep close watch on their small pets because a big snake is on the loose there.

The snake's owner is getting the word out about the 10 foot long python named "Banana Jam."

He last saw Banana Jam on Friday before it escaped from a locked cage.

He's placed posters around the area warning people that the snake will eat cats and dogs. "Although it does hunt small mammals and it can eat a Chihuahua, it's been well fed and he's probably just enjoying himself in the sun right now, in somebody's yard or down the creek," Banana Jam’s owner said.

The snake owner also says he hopes if someone finds Banana Jam, that they don't just kill him. He hopes they'll call Rocklin Animal Control.
