The Nevada County Sheriff said Wednesday that there are 6 survivors, 8 dead, 1 missing after the backcountry ski group got trapped an avalanche Tuesday as they were coming back from a three-day trip to Frog Lake Huts in the Sierra. The trip was lead by four guides with Blackbird Mountain Guides based out of Truckee. Recovery efforts will resume once conditions are safe for rescuers. The Sheriff said one victim is the spouse of one member of the rescue team.
