Human Resources Generalist

The Human Resources Generalist plays a critical supporting role in coordinating various human resources tasks for our San Francisco duopoly station - KTVU/KICU (studio located in Oakland, CA). This includes participating in various phases of the employee lifecycle, aiding in recruitment efforts, maintaining employee records, managing benefits and leave administration, as well as overseeing the administration and processing of employee data changes in our HR Information System - Workday.

Responsibilities

  • Verify and maintain the integrity, accuracy, and timeliness of data in HR Information System, specifically Workday.
  • Help ensure adherence to all company policies and procedures, as well as compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, including the management of labor law postings and required reporting.
  • Collaborate with management to review and update job descriptions to align with evolving business requirements.
  • Aid in the recruitment process by identifying potential candidates, conducting preliminary screenings, organizing interviews, and performing reference and background checks.
  • Oversee new employee orientations and onboarding procedures, ensuring all relevant information is updated in the company's records.
  • Confirm that all employment-related prerequisites are fulfilled; generate and keep up with all necessary personnel documentation whether on paper, in Workday, or in electronic formats.
  • Manage the I-9 verification process, including E-Verify, ensuring that forms are completed accurately and timely, documentation is verified, and all files are maintained and audited as required.
  • Act as a connector between employees and the benefits department to address any inquiries or issues related to employee benefits.
  • Support the administration of leave policies, handling the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) paperwork, and managing cases related to disability.
  • Provide assistance with the performance appraisal process, addressing employee relations matters, and processing terminations.
  • Organize various appointments and events, including meetings, interviews, and company activities.
  • Other duties as assigned

Job Requirements

  • The ideal candidate will exhibit strong business ethics with a commitment to confidentiality.
  • Possess outstanding verbal and written communication abilities, as well as excellent interpersonal and customer service capabilities.
  • This position requires strong organizational skills.
  • Strong time management skills are essential, with the ability to juggle multiple tasks effectively in a high-speed setting. Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools, especially MS Word, MS Excel, and MS PowerPoint, is also required.
  • A minimum of three years of relevant professional HR experience at the generalist level is also necessary.
  • Experience with WorkDay is a strong plus.

Education

College degree strongly preferred, ideally with a focus on human resources or a related discipline, or equivalent experience.

Pursuant to state and local pay disclosure requirements, the pay rate/range for this role, with final offer amount dependent on education, skills, experience, and location is $80,000.00-90,000.00 annually. Account Executive

KTVU FOX 2 is seeking an Account Executive who is equal parts personable, detail oriented, and self-motivated with a desire to be part of the station’s best in class team! We have a diverse culture that believes in supporting, mentoring, and training our staff. We are searching for an experienced Account Executive who can maintain and grow existing accounts, while actively pursuing and growing new business. As part of our total compensation benefits package we offer comprehensive medical plans, three weeks’ vacation, 401k, and tuition reimbursement just to name a few. The compensation for this position consists of a base salary plus commission with a total combined target of $135,000 to $150,000.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop a consistent stream of new business and manage an active sales pipeline in order to achieve monthly revenue targets.  This position places a heavy emphasis on business development.
  • Utilize all of the stations offerings (FLX/OTT, KTVU/KTVU+ best in class News and syndicated programming, FOX Network, Fox Sports, market leading station website and streaming products) in order to create compelling multi-screen campaigns and sponsorships.
  • Maintain and grow existing client list by providing excellent customer service and collaborating with clients to create impactful campaigns.
  • Successfully sell KTVU’s year-round high profile sporting events including: 49er and NFL games, SF Giants, MLB All-Star Game, MLB, MLB Playoffs, World Series, College Football, Oakland Roots, the 2026 Men’s World Cup, and more!
  • Gain key insight on client goals and objectives in order to make presentation and recommendations to successfully achieve them with all of our offerings.
  • Responsible for selling sponsorships that may include promotions initiated by sales persons.
  • Utilize all available sales tools in order to educate clients on the broadcast landscape and develop value propositions to earn client’s business.
  • Manage and maintain campaigns to ensure all deliverables are met and provide superb after-sales support in order to develop long lasting partnerships.
  • Work closely with Sales Managers and Regional Digital Sales Manager in order to meet specific measurable sales targets.
  • Other duties assigned as deemed necessary and appropriate.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Media sales or other outside sales experience required.
  • A strong understanding of the Digital/OTT space preferred.
  • Ability to create, present, and sell through opportunities to clients and advertising agencies.
  • Experience with Wide Orbit, Wide Orbit Media Sales, and Kantar applications a plus.
  • Proficiency in MS Office programs including Excel, Power Point, Word, and Outlook.
  • Effective time management, communication, and problem-solving skills required.
  • Ability to work in a collaborative environment and utilize the stations resources to efficiently manage station and client demands.
  • Must possess a driver's license with a good driving record

News Film/Tape Editor

We are in search of an experienced News Video Editor to select and assemble impactful news content for our Mornings on 2 newscasts.  This position may also play a critical role in shaping digital content for our online platforms, streaming media and social media.  Join a winning team with a culture that is committed to supporting, mentoring, and training our staff.

What You’ll Do:

Editors at KTVU work closely with newscast producers and news managers to select and assemble video, images and graphics and other media for effective storytelling.  Candidates must have demonstrated editing skills, be able to multi-task and work well under pressure. Other duties assigned as deemed appropriate and necessary.

  • Select and edit news video content, from a variety of sources, for news and feature stories such as VOs, VO-SOTS and packages.
  • Collaborate with producers and other team members to contribute video content to various live and taped shows and segments.
  • Ensure video content is compelling, accurate, and aligns with the overall editorial vision.
  • Anticipate problems, correct errors and develop workflows and systems so errors do not recur.

Production Stagehand

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Organize the studio for all newscasts, ensuring it is camera-ready and then restore the stage for the next shift
  • Prepare wireless lavalier microphones for use, including daily testing, charging, and labeling, as well as the ability to dress mics on talent & guests
  • Floor direct for talent and crews during broadcasts, streaming shows and other television station programming including remotes
  • Maintain clear and effective communication with producers, on-air talent, and production staff
  • Consult with directors, producers, on-air talent and all other crewmembers on production needs and work with the Studio Production manager on planning and execution
  • Innovate daily to differentiate and elevate the station's local news presentation on all platforms.
  • Operate studio equipment, including prompting and lighting controls
  • Perform light studio maintenance on equipment such as lighting and sets
  • Move studio set pieces, as necessary

Minimum Requirements:

  • Use of ladders, forklifts, motorized lifts scaling to a height of 25’

Weather Meteorologist

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Serve as one of the primary presenters of weather forecasts, stories, interviews, and other content for all TV, streaming and digital platforms in a manner that is clear, engaging, and meaningful to weather consumers.
  • Provide weather expertise in the newsroom, helping to guide news managers, producers and reporters in coverage and decisions.
  • Stay at the frontline of breaking weather situations, taking on field anchoring duties when assigned, to deliver live reporting that captures the veracity of the moment.
  • Take charge of coordinating and producing compelling interview segments with experts related to weather events, ensuring content is informative and resonates with our diverse audience.
  • Spearhead special weather report coverage, constructing in-depth stories for TV, digital, and print platforms that shine a light on significant weather events and reflect the concerns of the community.
  • Independently design, build, and maintain visually compelling and accurate weather graphics.
  • Actively pitch innovative story ideas that reflect the multifaceted nature of the San Francisco Bay Area.
  • Engage with the community, building a network of connections and sources that empower our station to be the first to report on weather events, issues, and trends that matter to our viewers.

Qualifications:

A minimum of 6 years of experience in weather reporting for broadcast and digital platforms, with a significant portion in a major market.

Proven ability to manage the pressures of a fast-paced news environment and produce content under tight deadlines while upholding the highest journalistic standards.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills; a comprehensive understanding of the digital audience and the weather stories that resonate best with readers on KTVU’s various online platforms.

Ability to utilize advanced storytelling techniques to make complex weather concepts understandable and engaging for viewers.

A willingness to learn new skills, pitch creative ideas, and adapt to change to help grow KTVU’s audience in the quickly evolving digital landscape.

Preferences:

A deep connection to the San Francisco Bay Area is highly favorable—whether you grew up, attended school, or have previously worked in the region, we value your intrinsic understanding of our community, its unique weather patterns and phenomena, and its stories.

An AMS Certification or Seal of Approval from the American Meteorological Society is considered a benefit, as is knowledge of the Max weather forecasting and production software.

Newscast Director (Daily Hire)

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Direct live newscasts, original programs, specials, and continuous coverage during breaking news and severe weather situations for both television and digital platforms.
  • Utilize a mix of manual and automated broadcast software and switchers to execute productions.
  • Code and prepare newscasts with thorough knowledge of camera operations, graphics integrations, and audio controls.
  • Organize and manage show rundowns, including coordination of live shots and timing of cues.
  • Maintain clear and effective communication with producers, on-air talent, and production staff.
  • Innovate daily to differentiate and elevate the station's local news presentation on all platforms.
  • Help Lead and direct the work of camera crews, audio operators, and floor directors as necessary.

The hiring range for this position is $50.00 to $52.60 per hour for Oakland, CA, KTVU Fox 2's studio location, and will be based on a candidate's knowledge, skills and experience.

Per Diem Technician

We are looking for a Per Diem Broadcast Technician. Come be a part of a winning team with a diverse culture that believes in supporting, mentoring, and training our staff.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Operating in Master Control, the Technical Operations Center, and Ingest.  Master Control automation experience is a must with an emphasis on switching live sports. 

Ensuring compliance with FCC regulations related to closed captioning, EAS, transmitters, text-to-speech, and the CALM Act. Live news experience is also a must to include tuning in live shots via microwave, satellite, and bonded cellular.  Other duties include commercial and program ingest and segmentation as well as quality control of on-air signal.  Flexibility to work a variety of shifts that may include nights, overnights, weekends, and holidays. Other duties as deemed appropriate and necessary.

Minimum Requirements:

The ability to work under tight timelines and high stress while maintaining an exceptional on-air product. Basic technical troubleshooting skills and the ability to properly communicate issues to the Maintenance Engineers and supervisors. Computer hardware, software, and networking experience and the ability to quickly learn new applications and workflows.  Must work well with others in and out of the Engineering department and be able to communicate clearly in writing as well as in person.

Two years of college or technical school and two years of related experience preferred.

What You’ll Do:

The Multi-Platform Producer will have curiosity for their community and the world around them; be creative in developing unique and engaging content for our broadcast, streaming and digital platforms; and be competitive in monitoring other media, challenging themselves to be different and working to continually elevate KTVU and FOX Local coverage.

  • Conceptualize and launch a new multi-platform news show, selecting timely and engaging content and showcasing live pictures from around the globe.
  • Prioritize breaking news, live events and adapt to a fast-paced, quickly changing, live production environment in a professional manner.
  • Work seamlessly with show hosts to book guests, prepare recorded interviews and segments.
  • Think creatively and critically about contemporary content, production techniques and how to reach streaming viewers.
  • Contribute ideas daily and recognize what types of stories would make for interesting and compelling television and streaming content.
  • Manage the station’s stream schedule and program content including live shows, video podcasts and taped episodes in consultation with station management.
  • Be a champion for the station’s streamed programming, helping to lead a shift in culture toward streaming.
  • Establish and maintain harmonious relationships with peers and supervisors and develop contacts to aid in newsgathering.
  • Possess a desire to innovate, experiment and adapt to the rapidly evolving streaming environment.
  • Be enterprising and self-motivated and able to work independently to develop news content, streaming shows, specials or other assignments. Other duties assigned as deemed appropriate and necessary.
  • Demonstrate a thorough understanding of all journalistic standards and production techniques used to create visual and compelling on-air and online content.

What You’ll Bring:
High school diploma is required; 4-year College degree is preferred. Candidates should have experience with content creation and streamed programming. Knowledge of VMix, TVU, and iNews is preferred. A strong technical understanding of new technology is also required. Excellent communication and leadership skills are required.
