Berkeley Police: Male fetus found along shoreline

Berkeley Police say a well-developed human fetus was found along the shoreline west of the Tom Bates Sports Fields.

A person walking along the area reported finding the deceased fetus, according to police.

Berkeley Police and fire crews responded to the scene. They say the umbilical cord was still attached.

They believe the fetus washed up on shore.

The Alameda County Sheriff's Office coroner responded and recovered the male fetus.

At this point additional details have not been released.
