ALTAMONT, Calif. - Fire crews contained a grass fire at North Flynn Road and Interstate 580 in the Altamont Pass Friday night.
The 41-acre fire was first reported at 6:38 p.m. Forward progress was stopped as of 7:23 p.m. an Alameda County Fire Department spokesperson said.
Eastbound traffic on I-580 was backed up for two miles because of the fire, the fire department said.
The fire did not appear to threaten any structures. The so-called Flynn Fire was just east of Livermore.
