A 6-story apartment complex that was under construction caught fire and spread to nearby buildings.
People living near the giant fire grabbed what they could and ran.

Towering flames lit up the early morning sky in the East Bay as this fire raged out of control for hours.

At least 50 people were evacuated from the townhome complex next door to the fire and five of the units eventually caught fire.

Firefighters were brought in from across the East Bay to battle the flames. The Alameda County Fire Department used a drone with a thermal imaging camera to monitor the spread of the fire and because this building was under construction, it went up fast and burned hot.
One of the construction workers, helping to build the 100 unit apartment complex, came down to the scene of the fire.
