Oakland McDonald's serves up free breakfast on Thanksgiving

A McDonald’s in the East Bay teamed up with the Oakland Police Activities League during the holiday to provide free breakfast to families on Thanksgiving morning.

The Oakland PAL Thanksgiving Breakfast provided an opportunity for the local Bay Area community to come together for the holidays and enjoy a free meal, courtesy of McDonald’s.

The breakfast took place at the McDonald’s located at 4514 Telegraph Ave in Oakland between 9 a.m. and 11 a.m. Families were fed some of McDonald’s classic items such as hot cakes, hash browns and sausage.

"It's very nice! Very thoughtful," said one woman from the neighborhood who took advantage of the free breakfast. "It's not something that occurs ever year, so I'm very surprised and very pleased. And hungry!"

"I'm here to help hand out food," said young Andrew Haynes, a boy from Antioch who volunteered with his family. "It makes me feel good!"

In addition to volunteers who came to help hand out food, members of the Oakland Raiderettes, Oakland Police Chief Sean Whent and Ronald McDonald himself were also in attendance.
