San Jose police arrest man in sexual assault of 12-year-old

Police in San Jose on Wednesday arrested a man in connection with committing lewd and lascivious acts with a minor.

At about 2:24 p.m. officers received a call about a sexual assault in progress in the 100 block of North 4th Street.

A witness observed the assault and immediately called police. The suspect, identified as Coshmond Hill, 43, was arrested in the area.

Investigators say the victim in the case, is 12 years old.

The victim was walking in the area when the suspect lured the victim into an alleyway, where he sexually assaulted the victim, police said.

Hill was booked for suspicion of committing lewd and lascivious acts with a minor under 14 years old, sodomy against a minor, and false imprisonment.

Chief Eddie Garcia said, "My heart goes out to this young victim and family. I cannot thank the vigilance of our reporting party enough and the rapid apprehension by our patrol units. No one, much less a child should ever have to endure this type of trauma."
