Some suspects held in smash-and-grab at San Ramon jewelry store thats been hit before
At least four suspects are in custody after a brazen daylight robbery at Heller Jewelers at City Center Bishop Ranch in San Ramon that netted $100,000 in jewelry.
SAN RAMON, Calif. - Gunshots erupted at a San Ramon jewelry store on Monday afternoon when a group of thieves forced their way into the building and began smashing displays.
San Ramon Police Department officers responded about 1:50 p.m. to the Heller Jewelers store at 6000 Bollinger Canyon Road on reports of a "take-over style" armed robbery, according to a department statement.
About 20 masked suspects – several of whom were armed with handguns – entered the store, began smashing cases and taking the items inside.
Several suspects entered the Heller Jewelers store at 6000 Bollinger Canyon Road on Monday afternoon and began breaking into cases to steal the items inside.
Police said at least one of the suspects fired bullets through the front entrance of the store, but no one was injured.
The suspects fled the store into cars they had stashed at the City Center Bishop Ranch valet parking area. SRPD officers briefly pursued the suspects, but quickly broke off the chase and let air support track the cars through Contra Costa into Alameda counties.
The SRPD said several of the suspects were ultimately detained in two places in Oakland, and at a third location in Dublin.
An investigation into the robbery is ongoing, and anyone with information was asked to contact SRPD Detective Corporal Kevin Tjahjadi at 925-733-7316.
The backstory:
Heller Jewelers was robbed of more than $1 million worth of jewelry in March 2023. Seven people burst into the jewelry store on Bollinger Canyon Road, and security footage showed two gunmen confronting security guards and workers at gunpoint.
