2 shot in Emeryville Target parking lot, 1 victim in critical condition
EMERYVILLE, Calif. (KTVU) - Two people were shot at the Target parking lot in Emeryville on Monday, according to police.
Emeryville Police Department says two people were struck and were transported to local hospitals. One of them is in critical condition.
One person is in custody, says Emeryville Police Chief Jennifer Tejada.
Oakland police assisted in the shooting investigation, although the location on 1555 40th Street near the MacArthur Maze in in Emeryville's jurisdiction. According to OPD, the shooting happened at 6:01 p.m.
At least three firearms have been recovered from the scene, according to Tejada.
Police say multiple shots were fired.
A KTVU photographer at the scene says an SUV appears to be riddled with bullets in the parking lot.
Emeryville police Chief Jennifer Tejada said the investigation is causing traffic congestion in the area.
The parking lot has been reportedly blocked off and about two dozen police cars were seen in the area.
