2016: Year of the Monkey

Chinese New Year is on Monday, February 8, 2016 and it marks the start of the Year of the Monkey in the Chinese zodiac.

The Year of the Monkey will be a year of invention and improvisation, according a a press release from the organizers of San Francisco's Chinese New Year Festival and Parade.

The spirit of the Monkey will encourage us to gamble, speculate and exploit risky but ingenious options. Business is sure to thrive under the Monkey’s optimistic and shrewd influence.

The Monkey is the 9th animal in the Chinese Zodiac. 

The Chinese Zodiac is based on a twelve-year cycle and each year is connected to an animal sign. The signs are the rat, ox, tiger, rabbit, dragon, snake, horse, sheep, monkey, rooster, dog and pig.
