SANTA CLARA, Calif. - The San Francisco 49ers ended their last regular season game with a 13-3 loss to the Seahawks at Levi’s Stadium on Saturday night, ceding the NFC West title and top seed position to Seattle.
The 49ers have already secured a playoff position, but the top seed comes with a bye week and home field advantage throughout the playoffs.
The loss means the San Francisco team will spend next week on the road as a wild-card team.
The backstory:
Both teams were on a six-game winning streak, but the Seahawks entered Saturday’s game in first place of the NFC West.
In their last match on Sept. 7 in Seattle, the 49ers triumphed over the Seahawks 17-13.
Before Saturday night’s game, the 49ers won seven of the past eight meetings with the Seahawks, including a playoff game in the 2022 season.
