SAN FRANCISCO (KTVU) -- The California Highway Patrol said motorists traveling on the westbound span of the Bay Bridge should expect delays because of a man who climbed onto the bridge.

CHP spokesman Sean Wilkenfeld said two westbound lanes of Interstate Highway 80 were closed between San Francisco and Treasure Island while authorities responded to the scene. The incident began around 10 a.m. and lengthy delays were reported.

Officers from the Coast Guard and San Francisco police were responding to the scene.

It was not immediately clear when the two westbound lanes would reopen.
