Elderly man dies in Oakland house fire

OAKLAND, Calif. (KTVU) - An elderly man died Monday morning in an Oakland house fire, firefighters said.

There were six people in the house at 16th and Linden streets, and all but the elderly man were able to escape. "Unfortunately, one person couldn't be saved," according to a bartalion chief. 

Firefighters said it looked like the blaze started in a front bedroom but the cause is under investigation. The elderly man was found in that room. 

The fire started a few minutes before 6 a.m.
