Benicia fire grows to nearly 170 acres
BENICIA, Calif. - A nearly 170-acre brush fire has completely shut down a stretch of road in Benicia.
The California Highway Patrol announced just after 2 p.m. that Lake Herman Road between Columbus Parkway and Interstate 680 was shut down due to a fire burning in the area.
Cal Fire announced just after 2:25 p.m. that the fire was burning near Lake Herman and was 75 acres, with 0% containment.
Cal Fire gave updated figures about 10 minutes later detailing that the fire had grown to 80 acres.
The agency then announced about 4 p.m. that the fire had grown to 167 acres, though firefighters had managed to stop forward progress and reached about 30% containment of the blaze.
