Weather radar tracking Bay Area storm conditions

An atmospheric river is bringing heavy rain and strong winds to the Bay Area Tuesday with storm conditions expected to continue through Friday.

The region may see a slight break from the rain on Wednesday.

The National Weather Service issued a flood watch for much of the Bay Area, continuing through 4 a.m. Wednesday.  A severe thunderstorm warning was also issued for San Francisco, southern Marin County and northern San Mateo County. That warning was lifted at 4 p.m. Those areas could see wind gusts of up to 70 mph, the NWS said.

Flooding is expected along rivers, creeks and in flood-prone areas, especially along the Russian River in Sonoma County. In Forestville, a home slid into the Russian River because of the atmospheric river.
