Man held in West Oakland slaying

(KTVU) -
Here is KTVU crime reporter Henry Lee's Rap Sheet blog for December 16, 2016:
MAN CHARGED IN WEST OAKLAND SLAYING: An 18-year-old man has been arrested and charged in a drive-by shooting that killed a 55-year-old victim in West Oakland.
Trevon Collins has been charged with murder, the special circumstance of committing a drive-by murder, shooting at occupied vehicle and carrying a loaded firearm in a city in the shooting death of Dymetrie Shaw.
Shaw was sitting inside a car when he was shot on the 600 block of 32nd Street shortly after 8 p.m. Nov. 28.
Collins was arrested Dec. 7 while armed with a gun, Oakland police Sgt. Joseph Turner wrote in an affidavit. Several days later, Collins admitted to taking part in a drive-by shooting, Turner wrote.
Cell phone records of Collins "alleged accomplices" corroborated the defendant's statement, police said without elaborating.
Shaw's killing was one of several in West Oakland within several weeks. Some of the shootings were believed to be gang-related, according to police. The rash of slayings prompted all officers in West Oakland on the swing shift to work mandatory 12-hour shifts, instead of the usual 10 hours.
CRIME FILES: Join me about 10:40 p.m. Sunday Dec. 18 as we look into the unsolved case of Rick DeVecchi, who was struck and killed by a car in West Berkeley.
