Man picks up DoorDashing on top of day job to buy engagement ring: “I don’t care how long it takes"

Now that’s what you call true love.

Bradley Cho, 26, is hoping his journey of love and dedication will not only showcase his affection for his girlfriend to the world, but to maybe inject some positivity and inspiration into others.

Cho recently went viral on TikTok for sharing his journey DoorDashing (in addition to his regular 9-5 job) to save up enough money to get his girlfriend the engagement ring "she deserves."

"Every night after work, I’m DoorDashing, because waiting for the perfect moment is just fear with a deadline, and she deserves more than my excuses," Cho says in his first viral TikTok video documenting his journey.

Procurement manager by day, DoorDasher by night

Dig deeper:

Cho has a regular 9-5 job as a procurement manager at a chemical company in the Chicago area.

And while that has been a sufficient source of income, he and his girlfriend recently purchased a condo, which depleted their savings.

What’s more, the couple would continue to budget and save for a rainy day, but the realities of inflation and real-life situations were staggering their progress.

"I always try to keep a budget, a monthly budget, and I save roughly anywhere from $500 to $1,000. But what I quickly learned is that any kind of emergency wipes that out," Cho said.

Once Cho realized he wanted to marry his girlfriend, he decided that instead of complaining or feeling discouraged he wasn’t able to save up enough to purchase her dream engagement ring, he wanted to do something about it.

"I had a sense of urgency and I really wanted to take action. I do want to get married and I want to work hard and that’s what prompted DoorDashing for the engagement ring," Cho shared with FOX Local.

Going viral

Deciding to share his journey on TikTok was a way to keep himself accountable, but he never expected it to go viral.

"I was completely caught off guard. I didn’t realize that many people were invested in the love story," Cho said.

Since posting his first video, Cho has received millions of views and comments of support.

He’s even gotten offers from jewelers to just give him an engagement ring.

Big picture view:

But Cho said he intends to maintain his integrity and work until he reaches his goal of $6,500 (the price of his girlfriend’s dream engagement ring).

"My dad, when I was in the sixth grade, he woke up every day at 4 a.m. to work a part-time job. And then a main job, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. for months in order to pay for my braces," Cho shared. "Picking up side work and working hard, I think, for the things that you know you want, to treat our loved ones too, that’s always been pretty core to who I am. And so, with all these generous offers, I decided, ‘You know, I want this to be something I earned for my girlfriend.’"

By the numbers:

As of this report, Cho has earned $561.78 from DoorDashing.

Cho said that though he tried to keep this ordeal a secret from his girlfriend, the cat is officially out of the bag, but she’s being just as supportive as ever.
