Mom gives adopted daughter 20-year-old letter on wedding day
(FOX 46) -- On the day she adopted her daughter, Sherry Blackledge wrote her new child a letter. Twenty years letter, she gave the letter to her daughter on the child's wedding day.
"As I write this you are sleeping soundly in your baby bed. You are 18 months old," Sherry wrote in her 1994 letter obtained by the Huffington Post.
Sherry can be seen giving the letter to her daughter Brooke in a new viral wedding video produced by The Film Poets.
"To me, adoption is one of the most beautiful things that a family can do. When I first heard their story, I knew that we had to approach Brooke & Tyler’s film differently," film maker Matt Harris wrote on his Web site.
The documentary-style film shows an emotional Brooke reading the letter shortly before wedding her new husband Tyler. The letter was written on a piece of Sherry's wedding dress and explained how much the family loved their new child.
“Being adopted, I wanted her to know how much I loved her,” Blackledge told the Huffington Post.
