Pacifica police investigating fatal accident that killed teen

State Highway 35 has reopened in Pacifica Monday night after an earlier incident in which a pedestrian was killed in an earlier vehicle crash that closed all lanes of traffic, according to police.

Officers were dispatched to the intersection of state Highway 35, also known as Skyline Boulevard, and Glencourt Way on report of a crash involving a pedestrian at 3:25 p.m.

On arrival, officers found that a male pedestrian had suffered major injuries and was pinned underneath the vehicle. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene, according to police.

Police told KTVU the victim was 17-years old and was coming home from school.

He was walking in a crosswalk after getting off a Samtrans bus.

The driver of the SUV is also a teenager who reportedly was cooperating with authorities. He was making a right turn when he hit the other boy.

The roadway remained closed for hours, but police announced via Twitter at 8:49 p.m. that all lanes of Highway 35 are now open.
