Sir Rod Stewart has heart procedure, ends farewell tour

Sir Rod Stewart was forced to say farewell to his farewell tour earlier than planned after having a heart procedure performed.

A representative for the rock legend confirmed the coronary stent procedure after the rock legend canceled a scheduled Tuesday night show at Rocket Arena in Cleveland just days after postponing one in Cincinnati as well. In the Riverbend Music Center’s statement, the venue attributed the postponement to "an unforeseen but minor medical procedure that required prompt attention."

"I’m already feeling better and very much on the mend. I want to thank the doctors, nurses and everyone who has taken such wonderful care of me," Stewart, 81, said in the statement. "I’m deeply disappointed to miss these shows and sorry to let my fans down, but I look forward to getting back on stage and having a good time with you all again soon."
The backstory:
Stewart’s publicist described the procedure as a routine one and said doctors were pleased with "Maggie May" singer’s recovery. He is expected to take four weeks to recuperate and get back into shape to go back on stage.

"Unfortunately, this means he will be unable to continue his current tour dates," the publicist added.
