Sonoma County coroner identifies 2 people killed in North Bay storm

Sonoma County's coroner identified the two people who died in this week's storm as a 61-year-old Calistoga man and an 81-year-old Sebastapol man.

Late Wednesday afternoon, sheriff's deputies found the body of John Radecke, 61, on a property along Franz Valley Road, northwest of Calistoga

The 81-year-old man, identified as Frank Robinson, was found on Sanford Road in Santa Rosa, the sheriff said.

He had been reported missing the previous night.

‘Floods very regularly’

What they're saying:

"Our rescue swimmers went into the water, they did a grid pattern search and located a male victim," Sonoma County Fire's Cyndi Foreman said of the Santa Rosa victim. "This area where the accident happened is in the Laguna de Santa Rosa, so it's a notorious, low level spot for us that floods very regularly, even in some of the more minor storms."

The North Bay faced the worst storm conditions this week with an atmospheric river and rainfall flooding roads and creeks.

Evacuation orders were in effect Wednesday along a 34-mile stretch of low-lying areas near the Russian River from Healdsburg to Jenner due to the rain.

During the heavy rain, Sonoma County fire officials had to do several water rescues, the agency said Wednesday.

What's next:

Storm clean-up is continuing Friday in the North Bay in the aftermath of this week's heavy rainfall.

Rain is expected to return to the Bay Area late next week.
