Redwood City Police shot and killed a man in a residential neighborhood
Redwood City Police shot and killed a man in residential neighborhood on Tuesday afternoon. They've identified the man as 48-year-old Jose Reynaldo Lombera of Redwood city. Police say officers were responding to a report that a man had fired a gun into the sidewalk. The San Mateo County District Attorney's Office is jointly investigating this incident with the Coroner's Office and the Redwood City Police Department.
Oakland Bakery launches sweet effort to help families during government shutdown
Amid the ongoing government shutdown, one Oakland bakery is stepping up to help families who are struggling financially, by giving away free cakes and cupcakes. Angel Cakes Bakery, a worker-owned cooperative, launched a GoFundMe campaign this week to sponsor baked goods for families who may not be able to afford them. For every box of cupcakes or cakes sponsored, the bakery will donate another.
