AI leaders speak on safety at UN General Assembly
UC Berkeley Law's Vincent Joralemon spoke on The Four as world leaders gathered at the United Nations to address top global security concerns, with artificial intelligence taking center stage during an address by Bay Area tech executives. Addressing the U.N. Security Council in New York, OpenAI CEO Sam Altman urged global caution, cooperation, and stronger oversight as AI risks grow. Altman stressed that for AI to remain democratic, critical choices cannot be left solely to San Francisco tech labs and must instead be shaped by public accountability.

10th annual Kunal Patel tennis tournament
The 10th annual Kunal Patel San Francisco Tennis Tournament is underway at Golden Gate Park’s Goldman Tennis Center, running through Sunday. Created by family and friends to honor Kunal, an avid athlete who died in a 2014 bike crash at age 27, this year features more than150 players competing for a $50,000 prize. Known for launching top talent like Taylor Fritz and Frances Tiafoe, the tournament offers free admission to the public, featuring competitive matches, student programs, and community events.

The San Francisco Film Preserve is launching the inaugural Re:Vision Film Festival this week, lebrating restored works from global film archivists. Opening with the 1989 film My Name Ain’t Suzie, the festival will screen nearly three dozen restored films spanning 18 countries, with releases ranging from 1896 to 2008. Executive Director Kathy Rose O’Regan visited the studio to discuss the event’s inaugural run.
