Felton Grove evacuated amid severe flooding

The latest wave of rain prompted Santa Cruz County to issue an evacuation order for the community of Felton Grove this morning. The San Lorenzo River, hit 21.7 feet in the Santa Cruz Mountains community, just one inch shy of major flood stage, according to the National Weather Service.

Newsom asks Californians to stay vigilant about more storms

With rain-soaked California expected to see more stormy weather over the weekend and into next week, Gov. Gavin Newsom, and other state and federal officials pleaded with residents Friday to stay alert to possibly more flooding and damage.

Weekend storms could bring more outages, lightning

Downed trees, mudslides and power outages continued around the Bay Area Friday as people prepared for yet another round of storms that will be rolling into the region over the weekend.

This may be a harbinger of things to come to many hillside communities. Nineteen people who live in this three-building, six-unit complex, at the foot of a very steep hillside, have been evacuated from a cul-de-sac just off Olema Drive in Fairfax.
