Chinatown bakery owner shaken up after stabbing
Law enforcement says Lai is on parole for a 2016 attempted murder conviction for stabbing an elderly man while he was playing cards in Portsmouth Square in Chinatown. According to the bakery owner, the 2016 victim is his father, but that he never met Lai before the attack at the bakery and does not know the suspect's motives in either incident.
