The San Francisco Police Department and the family of a 9-year veteran officer is mourning his sudden death on Sunday. Luciano Ortega had been playing rugby, which he does every Sunday, when he collapsed. He was a native San Franciscan and came from a family of police officers. His SFPD work partner and close friend described him as a great officer who had empathy for people from all walks of life.
