Concerns rise around executive order over psych medicines
President Trump has issued an executive order, establishing the Make America Healthy Again commission. While it covers a range of health issues, one topic in particular is sparking concern among doctors, therapists, and parents. The order points to a rise in diagnoses and warns of potential over-medication, noting that more than 3 million children are currently taking medication for ADD and ADHD. The order does not call for restricting access, but it does direct the commission to evaluate the impact and risks of prescribing stimulants, antidepressants, antipsychotics and other common mental health conditions.
