San Mateo sheriff defiant, won't resign as voters give board power to fire her

Embattled San Mateo County Sheriff Christina Corpus issued a statement saying she's not resigning and will defend herself in a hearing that could result in her ouster. The results of a special election on Tuesday show voters overwhelmingly approved Measure A, which gives the county's Board of Supervisors the temporary power to remove a sitting sheriff for cause.
